Assets
The C-AIM Labs are carrying a large inventory of instrumentation which are well documented under the sub menu "Instrumentation Assets Catalogue" of this menu. The catalogue contains a comprehensive, indexed list of all instrumentation available for use in the labs. Each item in the catalogue is listed with a name, image, model/type, sensitivity (where applicable) and its latest calibration certificate.
You are urged to familiarize yourself with the equipment you need for your project by making use of this catalogue, the training videos under the "Other Links" menu and Google search before attempting to book your instrumentation. Details of test facilities available in the labs are covered under the relevant "Read more" tabs of the "Lab Facilities" menu. Self training using the training videos mentioned above will be required before you will be allowed to make use of certain specialized equipment such as Laser vibrometer and Photogrammetry systems.
Availability Calendar
Please check the availability of an item/s that you intend to book under the Instrumentation Booking menu before making a booking on the Booking form. Note that YOU CAN NOT ALTER THE CALENDAR! An open date on the calendar means that the date is open to make a booking (on the booking form) for a specific item. Please note the"+(x)more" notice on dates which are populated. Also, by clicking on a booked item will reveal details on the person for whom the booking has been made. Due to the possibility of damage, servicing etc. of equipment an open date on the Calendar does not necessary imply that a booking can be approved and the final decision remains the discretion of the administrators. Once your booking appears on the Availability Calendar it is considered confirmed.
Booking Form
Use the Booking Form (directly under the Availability Calendar) to submit your booking request after checking on the Calendar that the dates you require are open. Ideally you should book two weeks in advance. Note that the maximum booking time allowed per item is 1 week. Please use the Instrumentation Assets Catalogue under the Instrumentation menu and the Training Videos under the Other Links menu to assist you in choosing the correct equipment for your project. Your booking will be confirmed once it appears on the Availability Calendar and may take up to 24 hours (someone else cannot book the same space during this time). After you have submitted the completed form you will see a green message "Thank You! Your booking has been sent" (Scroll up to view message). If your booking does not appear on the Calendar within 24 hours and you have not received any message from Caimlabs please inform us via e-mail: bookings@caimlabs.co.za.
Note that no booking will be valid until you have submitted the Safety Policy Acknowledgement form. You can find the Safety Policy and acknowledgement form here.
